GMRS Operator Course
The General Mobile Radio Service (GMRS) is an easy to use two-way radio service.
GMRS devices can generally communicate with Family Radio Service (FRS) walkie-talkies.
GMRS usage requires a license, but the fee has been reduced and is now only $35.00 for a ten year license.
Great news -- the GMRS license does not require any test.
GMRS operators however are required to follow rules, and FRS operators are licensed by rule, meaning that by following the rules FRS operators do not need a license.
The GMRS Operator Course explains GMRS Radio Concepts, GMRS Radio Equipment with the purposes of their various features, GMRS Radio Conversations and their Reach, and FRS hand held transceiver usage and their interaction with GMRS.
GMRS Radio Concepts include Transceivers, Modulation, Band, Frequencies, Channels, and Sub-Channels.
GMRS Radio Equipment covers Handheld Transceivers (HT), Mobile Transceivers, Base Stations, antennas, and Repeaters.
The purposes of the various features of these are explored.
GMRS Radio Conversations teaches radio environments, range, operations of repeaters, emergency communications, and the purpose and usage of the mobile-10 codes.
The FRS (Family Radio Service) explains walkie-talkie usage limits, the limits of their communications with GMRS Radios.
